Overview

The EB-2A category is for members of the professions holding an advanced degree. This includes a U.S. master's degree or higher, or a foreign equivalent, or a U.S. bachelor's degree plus at least 5 years of progressive post-baccalaureate experience in the specialty.

EB-2A typically requires employer sponsorship and an approved PERM Labor Certification — a process in which the employer must demonstrate that no qualified U.S. workers are available for the position. However, if combined with a National Interest Waiver (NIW), the PERM requirement is waived.
